The Oklahoma Buckskin Horse Association (OBHA) was formed & incorporated in 1981. The purpose of the club is to make the public aware of and to encourage interest in Buckskin, Dun, Red Dun and Grulla horses through competition. We offer a valuable avenue to our youth by showing them the pride, excitement and challenge involved in the raising, breeding, and showing of Buckskin horses - while continuing to improve the breed.

 

Our goal as a club is to create a fun, family environment for all horse lovers (no matter the color of your horse) in which to show their horses with excitement and the challenge of competition.
 

ABRA CHARTER CLUB
OBHA is a charter club of the American Buckskin Registry Association (ABRA) and lifetime points can be earned by registered ABRA horses at OBHA shows. You can strive toward receiving ABRA awards such as a Register of Merit, Championship, and/or Supreme Championship...just to name a few. ADVANTAGES OF AN OBHA MEMBERSHIP
Striving to promote the Buckskin colors through word of mouth, meetings, social gatherings, and horse shows, gives us all a chance to make new friends and keep in touch with our "Buckskin Buddies." Using OBHA as a central source of unity, Members help to create a new and thriving market for our Buckskin horses.

Membership in OBHA is not just limited to Buckskin owners. OBHA membership has advantages for anyone who wants to participate within the club. Which ever color your horse might be, an OBHA membership may just be for you. At each of the OBHA shows, we offer ABRA approved classes along with All Breed classes (ALL BREED classes are for all breeds and all colors or horses, registered or not). OBHA shows are held at the Claremore Expo Center, in Claremore OK and the spring show in Tulsa, Oklahoma. OBHA Members are eligible for the Grand and Reserve High Point Champion awards given out at each show.

You must be an OBHA Member to receive a Division High Point Award or a Year End Award. Year End awards are awarded at a banquet following the show year. At the year end OBHA banquet, OBHA Members are awarded with Year End High Point awards for each class and for high point and reserve champions in each Division. 

 

FUN EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
Since 2010, OBHA has hosted a variety of fun and exciting events each year. We have hosted several "Extra" fun events such as: Chili cook offs, Therapeutic Showmanship classes, Jackpot KEYHOLE class, YOUTH SHOWMANSHIP BUCKLE CHALLENGE class, youth and adult Discipline Rail Buckle challenge classes. In July of 2010, we had many of our club members assist us in putting together an OBHA booth at the ABRA world show that highlighted Oklahoma and it's involvement and support of therapeutic riding. Since 2010, an ADULT WALK/TROT BUCKLE CHALLENGE class has been held each year and the winner is awarded a buckle. Also, during our fall show in October of each year, OBHA has hosted six futurity classes and all 6 classes have had ADDED MONEY!! This is your club working for you!
